Crawling Baby Alert!!

I don't have a picture to post yet, working on that, but SOPHIE IS CRAWLING!!! She just started last week. I was surprised to see her start crawling towards me one evening. I put her in the nursery, closed the baby gate and went to start the bath water. I hear her crying (more like whining) and I go back to assure her that I'm right here and next thing I see is her crawling towards the gate!! I screamed for Ricky and sure enough, she was crawling right along. Not even the military one armed pull, full on crawling on hands and knees. So now that means we have lowered the crib (she's pulling up and sitting in her crib now) and just keeping an eye on her. Haven't started "baby proofing" yet. She isn't quite going towards things like the outlets and cabinets...but I know she will. We're also starting to teach her "no" - which she does not like one bit, she'll get over it. Pictures to come, I promise. We're heading to the beach for Easter weekend Thursday so there will be PLENTY of pictures.

Other news, I participated in the Cooper River Bridge Run this past Saturday. It was my very first time. This is a 10k race that starts in Mount Pleasant for about 1.5 miles, goes up the bridge for about 2.5 miles, and then through the streets of downtown for about another 2.2 miles or so. It was a tough race, there were a TON of people so it was difficult to get around everyone. My chip time was 1:00:57 so I was a little over my usual finish time. I'm OK with that. With all the people, it was so hard to get around so the fact that I came in 2 minutes past my normal time. I'll take it!!

As I mentioned above, Ricky, Sophie, and I are headed to North Myrtle Beach this week for a beach getaway. Yes, I know we love close to beaches here in Charleston, but we got a really good deal on a condo for three night, including the dogs. We wanted to do a little trip as a family sometime this year and we couldn't pass up a good deal. I'm so excited because the weather is going to ROCK this weekend!

So Close to Crawling and More!

Ricky predicted this month that Sophie would be crawling. I think he may be right. This little girl wants to get moving so bad!! She's also starting to pull herself up on things and had taken a liking to the DVD player and drawers in the bonus room (see below). I'm starting to transition her to the 3rd foods and trying to give her some "finger" foods (not working so well). She's going to be getting some more teeth very soon, so frustrating for all that they are not here yet. Poor thing seems very uncomfortable at night and has been waking up often in the middle of the night. It looks like the top 4 are on their way (and that's only because I see then up there, she WILL NOT let me feel in her mouth). She's a babbling fool, says "da da" like a champ and is making "ba" sounds. No mama yet :(

Cooper River Bridge Run next week!! My last race until the fall. This weekend I did a lot of running. Saturday morning, since it was so nice out, I got up and ran through the neighborhood. Then this morning I ran the bridge with some friends. It was WINDY and very difficult running against the wind coming back over the bridge but good practice for next weekend.

Enjoy some pics of our watermelon head. Yes, you heard me right, we call our daughter watermelon head. It all started back when Sophie was a couple of months old she was wearing this outfit that had watermelon's all over it. Ricky just started calling her watermelon head and it just kind of stuck. She likes it for now, but I'm sure she won't appreciate it so much when she gets older. That's going to be the "theme" for her 1st birthday. Watermelons. It may be silly, but I think it's cute. Kind of fitting for a Summer birthday too.

Getting back to normal

After the week of hell last week I'm happy to report that things are getting back to "normal" in the Bell home. Of course after everything the time changed and messed up all our schedules. Maybe that's why I've been so tired the last couple of days, we lost an hour of sleep! Didn't seem to affect Sophie too terribly although she wants to play longer in the evenings because of the extended daylight.

Let's see, last Saturday I ran the Flowertown Festival 10k. My time was 58:45 and I'm very pleased with my results, considering I was going to only do the 5k since I had stomach bug all week and had barely eaten anything. I decided to go for the 6.2 miles and worse case I stop and walk. Well I ran the entire time and beat my previous 10k time by 1 min and 1 sec. So I'm happy. Ricky ran the 5k in 30 minutes. Way to go Ricky!! Of course my good friend Pam blew us all away with her 53:07 10k time. She's a rock star.

Next race is the Cooper River Bridge Run next weekend. This will be my first year participating. I can honestly say that running the bridge doesn't scare me. The crowds of people that I will be smashed up against does. I'm mildly claustrophobic so I'm not looking forward to being packed like sardines with people. Not going to think about it yet.

Promise to post some pictures soon!!

It's been a rough week

Wow, what a week it's been. First an ear infection and now poor Sophie is fighting a stomach bug. It all started sometime Saturday morning, she woke up and apparently had thrown up in her crib (and I didn't hear it, tell me I don't feel horrible). Well from then things got worse, she throw up all of her formula all day on Saturday, most of the day Sunday, and still some on Monday. As of today she threw up twice (which we think is partially our fault, we resummed her antibiotic and we think that irritated her tummy). She's lost a little bit of weight because of it, but the doctor said that was normal.

Ricky took Sophie to the doctor today and she's on the mend. She's not dehydrated and he said we just need to keep giving her Pedialyte, formula, rice cereal, and some bananas. We're doing everything we should be doing, it's going to take a little while for her tummy to get back to normal. Poor kid, I understand how she feels. I got the stomach bug yesterday and had to stay home from work. Seems that it's going around Charleston pretty fast.

The good news, Sophie's ears are all clear so we don't need to continue antibiotics! At least one thing we know is gone. Plus she doesn't need to go for her 9 month checkup this week, no shots needed and she's as healthy as can be, despite this stupid virus! So she, hopefully, doesn't need to go back to the doctor until she's 12 months (and I can't believe that's 3 months away!!!).

Hopefully this is the last hoorah before the warmer months. I already don't have a lot of sick days left, urgh!! I'm confident that she will be back to her happy self very soon!
