Random Dog Pictures

Here are some random pictures of Zoe and Wylie. They are, at times, the cutest dogs.

Decorating has begun

Painting is underway

Wylie makes sure everything is back in place

Crib view

Chair with crib quilt (I painted the table)

Well, Saturday ended up being a crappy day, it rained ALL day. So we decided to go ahead and get the nursery painted. Seems that everyone else in Summerville had the same idea, Home Depot was pretty crowded.

After finally picking the shade of green, we decided to be bold and daring and go for the brighter green (Tart Apple to be exact), to complement the bright oranges, pinks, and yellows in the bedding. It's the brightest room in the house, but I think it turned out really well. Ricky did a great job and it only took him a few hours.

I think Sophie will like her flower and butterfly/dragonfly wonderland.

Sophie

We've picked a name for our little one, Sophie Elizabeth Bell. It was a tough decision, had a few names that we both really like (Caroline was one that we both loved) but in the end we decided that we really liked the name Sophie Elizabeth.

I went to Babies R Us this morning to return something and I bought Sophie's first dress from "Mom and Dad." I thought it was the cutest thing!

Furniture is up

The nursery decorating is under way. We've had the furniture for a while but now that we know baby is going to be a girl, I can finally start getting things ready for her. So this is how it looks now. I found this fantastic bedding from Pottery Barn Kids (it's the Mia collection) which has pinks, oranges, yellows, and greens. The quilt has flowers and butterflies so I'm excited that I get to decorate how I've always wanted to if I had a little girl. Can't wait to post pictures once it's complete!

Big News!

We've been waiting patiently these last 20 weeks and we finally know what Baby Bell is going to be. I won't keep you in suspense any longer ... we are having a GIRL! I can now call her "she" instead of "it." Even though we thought we were having a boy, we are super excited and can't wait till we meet her in June (seems so far away but I know it'll be here before we know it).
The ultrasound went very well. She was very active and moving around a bunch. It's hard to tell from the pictures but the tech said that she was upside down with her bottom up facing towards my belly (which provided a great shot of her "girl parts"). From her measurements the tech said that she is about 12 oz, which is on target with me being 20 weeks as of today. We could see and hear the heartbeat, it was at 141 beats per minute. Overall she looks normal and we are extremely happy for that!
So now it's time to get busy and start decorating the nursery. I know exactly how I'm decorating (hey what can I say, I'm a planner and I've had a lot of time to think). The only hard part will be deciding on a name! We had the boy's name all figured out but could not decide on a girls name to save our lives! I'm leaning towards Caroline but we aren't sure. For now she'll just be referred to as "her" or "she."

That's the big news for the day!! Once I start working on the nursery I will make sure I post some pictures.

So tomorrow morning we go for the 20 week ultrasound. I'm starting to get excited and nervous. Excited because we will hopefully get the find out the gender, and nervous because I hope we can find out the gender. I also hope that things look good overall.

We will be happy no matter what Baby Bell turns out to be, but I have to say mother's intuition says boy. I'm not sure why I think boy, maybe I read too many old wives's tales.

So, everyone cross your fingers that we will come back with some good news (and by good news I mean we know for sure the gender). I will be sure to post the ultrasound pics tomorrow!

Random Thoughts

I just ate lunch a little while ago and it feels like my stomach is pushed up into my ribs. Not a very comfortable feeling. Just the last week or so I've been experiencing some heartburn so I know I'm in store for A LOT more discomfort down the road.
I met with the pediatrician this morning and it went very well. I really like the doctor that we've picked. He was very informative and friendly. I felt very comfortable talking with him. He's also the Chairman of Pediatrics and Roper St. Francis Hospital (where I will be delivering).
Oh and last night I was laying in bed reading and I swear it felt like something did a flip in my belly. Other than a few flutters, this was a new feeling. I think baby is doing somersaults or water aerobics in there :)

One more week

I had a check up this morning and thought that I was going to have an ultrasound done. It seems that we were a tad misinformed/assumed incorrectly (oops). I now have a scheduled ultrasound for next Wed. at 8:00 am! I will officially be 20 weeks so that's right on time and hopefully baby won't be shy.
On a good note, the appointment went very well, everything is looking good. The doctor says I'm growing nicely. The baby's heartbeat was at 135 (which they say is still normal, but according to the old wives tale below 140 which says boy!). We also found out Ricky's blood type which is A-. Since we both have negative blood types there is no way we will produce a positive child so the concern for me to become Rh sensitive is out the window and I won't have to get the shot at 26 weeks. Married the perfect guy!

Happy New Year!

We just wanted to wish friends and family a Happy New Year! We've got a big year coming up. Not only is Baby Bell arriving around June, but Mike and Sarah's wedding is in July. Very exciting stuff.
We had a fun time at Pam and Earl's cul-de-sac party last night. It was pretty cold (well, cold for Charleston) and they had a ton of good food, fire pits, and super nice people to ring in the New Year. Even though we left the party around 11:30 (I fell asleep on Pam's sofa and was really tired), I was still awake at 12:00, driving a buzzed Ricky home :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous 2009!
